AHAPPY Training of Trainers in Tanzania


Tanzania: 9th May, 2018 - 15th May 2018: AJAN Conducted AHAPPY Training of Trainers (T.o.T) in the Jesuit Parish of Kiwanja cha Ndege, Dodoma town in Tanzania between 9th May, 2018 and 15th May 2018. 21 participants composed of the Parish Youth attended the training. Facilitated by Fr. Jean Charles Kubanabantu (SJ) and Pascalia Sergon, participants were trained on AHAPPY’s three modules namely: Awakening to My Self, This World I Live In and Facing A World with HIV and AIDS.

‘Awakening to My Self’ Module introduced participants into reflecting on their relationship between self, God and with fellow youth, understanding about their bodies, Emotional Intelligence and how best the Youth can utilize their Intellectual Capabilities in an effort to live a positive and self-fulfilling life.

The Module on ‘This World I Live In’ gave participants an opportunity to relook at various situations of suffering as a result of HIV and AIDS, participants were also informed of various Sexually Transmitted Illnesses (STIs) and HIV and AIDS, the impact of HIV and AIDS in their immediate environment, Factors, Risks and Vulnerability of HIV and AIDS amongst the youth and Drug and Substance Abuse.

‘Facing A World with HIV and AIDS’ Module sought to create participants’ understanding on Voluntary Counseling and Testing (VCT), decisions and actions to take to prevent STIs and HIV Infections, how to live positively and being a good Samaritan in a world of HIV and AIDS.

On the last day, Mrs Oliver Mmako, an expert in HIV and AIDS in Dodoma was a guest speaker during the training. Mrs Oliver took participants through the impact of HIV and AIDS and behavior change on the youth in Dodoma.
